Isaiah
40: Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the
LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"?
28 Do
you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the
Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his
understanding no one can fathom. 29
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow
tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
31
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will
soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk
and not be faint. |
When we are weak, God gives us hope,
promise and eventually strength. God may allow us temporary
renewal or remission, but ultimately the lasting hope is in receiving God's
gift of grace and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. |

HOPE |
Romans 5:2b-5
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of
God. 3 Not
only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that
suffering produces perseverance; 4
perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into
our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. |
There is a process of spiritual growth
that occurs through people who have faith in God while suffering. The
Holy Spirit will produce perseverance, character, and hope. |

| Faith |
Luke 8:46
But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from
me." 47
Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and
fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had
touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48
Then he said to her, "Daughter, your
faith
has healed you. Go in peace."
49
While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the
synagogue ruler. "Your daughter is dead," he said. "Don't bother the teacher
any more."50
Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe, and she
will be healed." |
Faith in Jesus Christ brings healing.
We may not know what type of healing, but ultimately what we desire is not
just physical, but spiritual, relational and emotional. The woman and
girl each would eventually die, Jesus helped them both to overcome
fear and have faith, and this would extend to healing that reconciles us to
God for eternity in Jesus Christ. |
